Emergent Song: Fall Arc

EMERGENT SONG: FALL ARC

  • 10 Wednesdays beginning September 10th, 6:30-8:30pm at The Lavender Network
  • No meeting on Wednesday October 1st
What begins to unfold when we let go of fixed melody, rhythm, and lyric—and instead meet each other in the moment through improvised, embodied musical connection?

Over the course of a three-month arc, singer/improviser/teacher Elias Wolf facilitates an intimately-held group of singers (capped at 18 total) in weekly 2-hour deep dives, exploring the alchemical power of collective vocal improvisation. We’ll play with form and freedom—sometimes marrying improvised movement with voice —sounding from center, from edges, from in-between. Bringing warmth, grace and humor, Elias will lead Vocal River exercises from their mentor, master improvisation teacher Rhiannon (Alive! Bobby McFerrin, Gimme 5).

Each Emergent Song session is a space of aliveness, creative risk, and co-regulated resonance. We root in our bodies, tune to the moment, and co-create music none of us could make alone. Bring your breath, your grief, your joy, your creative expression and your magical queer self.

* Some prior harmony singing experience is recommended, and no improvisation experience required!

ACCESSIBILITY
